Neighbors attend SWONA picnic

Now it was just a blur but feedback I got was that the SWONA annual picnic we had on Saturday was a success.  I did a head count at 1 p.m. and we had 76 individuals (about a third of them kids, which is great), so we probably had at least 80 people during the peak of the event.  A big THANK YOU to Vic’s Pizza, Olympia Coffee Roasters, and Doo’s Donuts for their contributions to the event (PLEASE thank them by patronizing them when the occasion arises).  Between the games, food, guest speakers and great music (a big THANK YOU as well to Hans Salave, Donn Parr, and one other guy whose name I didn’t write down - sorry) a good time was had by all.  Our next neighborhood meeting is Thursday, September 21 at 7 p.m. at Gloria Dei Church.  We’ll give an update on the Wellington Heights proposal, Gloria Dei Refugee Committee, and maybe a primer on differences between garbage, recycling, and compost, since many of us were challenged to tell the difference (judging by what was in the receptacles).  See you then. ~Mark Toy
