Next SWONA meeting on June 18 is virtual

06/08/2020 12:07

Dear Neighbors,

A lot has happened since we last met.  Between the Covid-19 pandemic, the resulting impacts to our economy, and fallout from the George Floyd murder, our world has changed.  Gloria Dei is still closed for community meetings, so to maintain social distancing we will move to a virtual meeting via Zoom.   Invitations and details for joining this meeting will be sent soon to e-mail addresses we have on file for neighbors that have paid membership dues back to 2018.

We will begin the meeting with introductions and a quick tutorial on how Zoom works for those who have not used it before.  After approval of the December minutes and the presentation of the annual financial report, we will have a short Q&A for Covid-19 questions.  Since I work for the Department of Health and have been doing rotations within the Incident Command System on the pandemic response, we thought I might be able to answer some questions that people had (or at least jot them down and look for an answer).

After a short report on the Neighborhood Matching Grant (we got it) and recent CNA activities, we hope to have a short discussion with you about what SWONA should be doing at this time when we cannot meet in person easily.  Our June meeting is when we normally start planning for the annual picnic, so ideas for alternatives can hopefully be discussed as well.

Our March meeting was cancelled as it happened just after the Stay At Home orders were issued, and that was the annual meeting where we elect new board members.  This year we were supposed to elect a new President and Treasurer. Bradley Bobbit, our Secretary, relocated to Minnesota in May so we have to fill that position as well.  Please consider putting your hat in the ring for one of these positions, or nominate someone who you would like to see on the board.

Hope to ‘see’ many of you on June 18.

- Mark Toy, SWONA President
